The Bandon Public Library has joined with several organizations and individuals to create a series of workshops, classes and events this spring and summer. “The Big Fish Vision invites Coos County residents and visitors to explore, learn and create in honor of the salmon, marshes, and streams.”, says Vicki Affatati, local artist conducting one of the workshops.
Here is the calendar of events for March and April for The Big Fish Vision. More may be added at later dates.
All events other than Earth Day Celebration at the Bandon City Park will be held in the Bandon Library Sprague Room.

TRADITIONAL NATIVE STORYTELLER BRENDA BRAINARD March 16th 1 PM and 2:30 PM Explore native culture and history through THE SALMON STORY, RAVEN STORY, and HOW THE BASKETS SAVED THE BEACHES. Brenda will also discuss basket weaving in the second session.

AN HOUR OF FUN ART & DRAWING WITH LOCAL ARTIST DOROTHEA TORTILLA

All materials are provided for you to spend some creative time working from your imagination with guidance from an artist. This hour is certainly geared for adults and young adults. Anyone 12 and over is welcome to attend.

CRAFT AND CREATE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH 2-3 PM
DECORATE A HAT, GLOVES, OR SCARF FOR THE KIDS (or for you)
This is a fun and simple embroidery project for kids of all ages. This can be a solo or family event. Learn basic stitches to embellish a well loved hat or something new. We will be decorating with felt, embroidery thread and sequins. You can make it look anyway you want.
Materials and tools will be available for you…..or you can bring your own … or you can bring contributions of felt, thread and sequins or any of the above. Learn a new craft in a fun and easy hour at the library.

NEW staff pick items will be added to the collection EACH MONTH throughout the coming year. You will find an ECLECTIC OFFERING of subjects in adult and young adult books that have been selected by several members of the Bandon Library staff.
Subjects include (but are not limited to): Oregon, Arts, Spirituality, Travel, Fiction, Memoirs and much, much more.
This project has been funded completely by donations to the Staff Picks Project. This exciting new addition to the library collection is the result of coordinating the efforts of the Bandon Library Friends, the Bandon Library and the generosity of the people of Bandon.

CyberLynx and the Bandon Public Library partner year round to bring you help with all of your computer devices and many of the programs that may interest you.
Schedules are created quarterly and are available at the library. These are friendly, small gatherings and we encourage you to join us. The instructors are volunteers promoting computer literacy with almost all devices and various programs. If you can not make a scheduled date CyberLynx may provide help by appointment at the library.

APPLE LAB: Lab staff can help you with your Apple devices including using/navigating your iPad, iPhone and iPod. They will also assist you with browsing Safari and using standard Apple apps.
WINDOWS LAB: Lab staff can help you with your Windows devices including using/navigating Windows 7, 8 and 10.
BEYOND GOOGLING CLASS: Take a tour of Google’s Cloud, email, calendar, word processing, spreadsheet, maps and much more. Get some tips on how to use Google search more effectively.

Ocean Crest students can make arrangements to ride the school bus to the library for the Thursday after school program. Children should be picked up at the library by 4:45
