Dora Bookies Finish Up the Year

We had a great time at the Dora “Bookies” Reading Group on Monday. Each of the regular members contributed three to five of their favorite all time books. OF course, many found it to be a difficult task and had to make hard choices to decide what to include. Each one present, gave a brief summary of book or author and the reason they placed it on their list. Well, mostly brief anyway. We have a free spirited group who all enjoy hearing opinions from others so we don’t always stick to a time limit or even a topic.

I would like to invite you to consider joining the fun when we begin 2017 with our program on January 9th at 1 pm in the Library. If you are interested in what they chose as their favs  I have compiled a list that is available at the library.

International Games Day Coming Soon

  •  Saturday, November 19, 2016   2:00 to 4:30 PM

This is our first time participating in International Games Day. It seemed like a good way to introduce our new circulating collection of board and card games. We have been busy packaging and cataloging this new collection so it can begin circulating after the Program.

We hope you will join us to play some games and meet old or new friends. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist with explanations of the games if needed. Light refreshments will be served. Feel free to bring a snack to share, if you wish. (more…)

Friends of the Library Event

The Friends of the Dora Library will be participating in the Holiday Bazaar sponsored by the Myrtle Point Library Foundation.

The event will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 12th at the OSU Extension Building, 631 Alder in Myrtle Point.

As always, they will have quality handcrafted items and baked goods for sale. It is a great time to start your holiday shopping and , of course, SUPPORT THE DORA LIBRARY.

We are so grateful for the work they do to provide additional funding for children’s materials and other needs. Please stop buy and tell them thanks for their continued efforts.
